2021-2022 Tournament COVID-19 Precautions

Due to ongoing changes in the COVID-19 situation, all tournament plans are subject to change. Please check back often for updates. Team Managers and Volunteers will be contacted directly with information about any changes.

We are excited to return to an in-person tournament format for the 2021-2022 season! The health and safety of our Destination Imagination family remain a top priority, and we have established the following guidelines to reduce risk at our tournament. We will continue to monitor the situation and adjust our plans accordingly.

Guiding Principles

Our COVID-19 precautions and tournament plans are based on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Additionally, as our tournament is hosted at Conroe ISD facilities, we must also adhere to Conroe ISD policies and guidelines.

Vaccination

We strongly encourage all tournament participants and attendees to be fully vaccinated, including boosters for those who are eligible to receive them. We will not require documentation or proof of vaccination.

Masks & Face Coverings

We strongly encourage all tournament participants and attendees to wear a properly fitting mask or face covering (fully covering the nose and mouth) when indoors at the tournament, especially if you are not fully vaccinated.

Masks will be available free of charge at our Dime Store if you need one, but we ask that you please bring your own as our supplies may be limited.

Hand Washing & Hand Sanitizer

Hand sanitizer will be available at all challenge sites and in other common areas.
Frequent and thorough handwashing with soap and water is most effective and highly encouraged.

Physical Distancing

We encourage all participants and attendees to maintain physical/social distance and to minimize time spent in crowded or congested areas.

Isolation Guidelines

The best way to prevent the spread of illness is to stay home when ill. Please do not attend the tournament if you are sick.

Teams should be prepared to present their team challenge solution and participate in the instant challenge even if one or more team members cannot attend the tournament. Team Managers should encourage their teams to prepare for this possibility.

Individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19 or who are experiencing symptoms of infection should not attend the tournament unless ten days have passed since the onset of symptoms or asymptomatic test date, and you have been fever-free for at least 24 hours.

Individuals who have had close contact with an individual who has tested positive for COVID-19 within ten days of the tournament should take extra precautions, including wearing a mask and being extra vigilant about hygiene and distancing. Testing for COVID-19 infection five days after exposure is recommended.

Tournament officials may ask individuals displaying obvious symptoms of infection to leave the tournament site.

Awards Ceremony

Our awards ceremony will be in a virtual format. We will post details on our website soon.

Time on campus

We ask that teams limit the amount of time present at the tournament. We recommend that you arrive 30 minutes before your first challenge time and depart after completing your challenges. Team challenge and instant challenge times will be close to each other to minimize the number of participants on-site at any given time.

Spectators

Spectators are limited to only parents/guardians of team members, and spectators should not remain on campus longer than necessary. Challenge sites will be cleared between performances.

Concessions / Food & Drink for participants and attendees

Bottled water will be available for sale at the Dime Store in the cafeteria at the 9th Grade Campus. No other food or drinks will be available at the tournament.

Hospitality / Food & Drink for Volunteers

For volunteers, pre-packaged snacks and beverages will be available at each challenge site or work area, and a boxed lunch will be provided for appraisers and all-day volunteers. Self-serve drinks (including coffee) will not be available.

Check-In Areas (Team Managers and Volunteers)

Team Manager and Volunteer sign-in will be digital, eliminating check-in areas and tables. Please look for signs with sign-in instructions upon your arrival.
